Big Cats

It's pretty obvious what this big boy is telling me. If you're even in Africa and see this, you need to stop and start backing up nice and slowly.

Hi everyone. I hope this blog finds you all doing well today. I thought you'd enjoy a quick blog of big (and little) cat images. This year I've seen more lions than last year...to include the pride that has 21 animals in it. Also, I saw two leopards the other day which is remarkable. Many people come to Africa and even after several weeks never see a leopard...so for me to see two in one day was extremely lucky.

The thing with trying to take big cat images is that I rarely see them in the open and looking at me...

More likely than not I'm going to stumble upon them and they will either be too far away to get a good close-up, hiding in the bush, run away as soon as they are spotted, won't look directly at you, or because they are nocturnal hunters (at least for leopards and lions) when I do see them the light isn't great for taking images. However, luckily these are such awesome creatures that no matter the circumstances, you can still get some stunning images.  So lets take a quick image tour of big cats I've seen in the past couple of weeks.

LEOPARDS
Generally, if you are so lucky as to spot a leopard, this would typically be how you would see it.
But as I say, I got lucky...

I caught this young leopard as he was heading for a rock outcropping to wait out the heat of the day.
 CHEETAH
A day hunter, I caught this cheetah as he was out searching for his dinner. I haven't seen as many cheetahs this year as I did last year.

LIONS

These cubs weren't very happy when their mother got tired of feeding them and walked away. Like all babies, they stared making a fuss.

And my Favorite of the Week
...and like all babies, lion cubs love to play too.

That's all the time I have for now, but on the next blog I'll be answering some questions that several of you have sent to me. I look forward to putting it together. So for now, I'm wishing you all the very best.  John
